Goals and Activities
Goals
The initiative aims at promoting more effective and efficient Public-Private Partnerships in water supply and sanitation services. The focus is on better water governance, participatory processes between the partners and stakeholders in a PPP.
Activities
The initiative has been actively collecting the experience and recommendations from a broad variety of stakeholders and experts, and compiling them into target-group oriented instruments for enabling Public-Private Partnerships. The instrument development has been complemented by active communication (in events, workshops, presentation on international conferences) and an ongoing dialogue with a broad range of stakeholders.
Over 300 stakeholder representatives have been contributing so far. This number includes representatives from national, regional and local governments, UN and multilateral organizations, local authorities, public utilities, civil-society organisations, private companies, business organizations, labor unions, international financial institutions, development agencies, as well as water expert groups.
The initiative invites contributions from all sides - trying to lay sound foundations for a productive participatory dialogue in each and every PPP setting to apply and adapt the proposed instruments to the local context.
